NEW PUBLICATION ANNOUNCEMENT
GWP Wants Action on Water at Rio+20
The Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development will take place in Brazil on 20-22 June 2012 to mark the 20th anniversary of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, and the 10th anniversary of the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg.
GWP has developed a Policy Brief to emphasise key messages to policy makers at Rio+20:
· The crucial role of water as a key driver in the green economy
· The need for building more effective institutions to manage water better, especially at transboundary level
· The ongoing need for integrated approaches, ensuring water security for the economy, for society and for the environment
· The political leadership and vision essential for overcoming fragmentation
The Policy Brief and other GWP publications on IWRM such as Background Papers, Policy Briefs, Handbooks, etc. will be available in our booth at the 6th World Water Forum in Marseille. Come and see us in Hall 3, booth 3.102a. A programme of GWP's involvement and participation in Marseille is available here: http://www.gwp.org/gwp-in-action/Events/6th-World-Water-Forum.
